Extracted from The Murphree Ancestry of Bill R. Linder

Daniel Murphree, Jr., son of Daniel and Sarah Murphree, was born about 1747, likely in Bertie County, North Carolina, where his parents were living at the time. He later lived in Orange and Chatham Counties, North Carolina. He married Mary ("Molly") Bullard. Daniel was killed in 1781 in the Revolutionary War.

His widow married (2) in Pendleton District, South Carolina, William Marchbanks as his 3rd wife. She had no Marchbanks children, and died 4 Jan 1823 in Blount County, Alabama, buried in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Blount County. Molly had moved to Blount County in 1818 with Solomon Murphree and was one of the seven members of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church that Solomon organized in Blount County on 18 March 1820. The following are children of Daniel Murphree, Jr., and Molly Murphree:

1.Celia Murphree, b. about 1771 in Chatham Co., NC, md. Luke (or Hugh?) Tatum. Children: Martha Tatum, md. Samuel Isaac Shelton; Matilda Tatum, md. Forte Barnes; Joseph Tatum; Daniel Tatum; aron Tatum; and anohter daughter. This family moved from Alabama to Mississippi.

2. Daniel Murphree III, b. about 1773 (was 77 in 1850) in Chatham County, NC, md. 1796 Pendleton Dist., SC, Sarah ("Sally") Ellis (b. 1778, dau. of Jesse Ellis, Sr., and Elizabeth Young) and d. 7 Feb 1854 Blount Co., AL, age 75. Daniel and Sally moved to Blount Co., AL in 1827. They are buried in Shiloh Cem., Blount County. Children: Delia Muprhree, md. James ("Silver Jimmy") Bynum; Ellis Murphree, md. 2 Jun 1825 Jenny Allgood; Mary ("Polly") Murphree, md. Harper W. Clowdus; Rebecca Murphree, md. Alexander Baker; John Wesley Mlurphree, did not marry; Stephen Murphree, md. 2 Mar 1837 Jane ("Jenny") Blakely; Elizabeth Murphree, md. 2 Feb 1837 Daniel Bynum; and Sarah Celia Murphree, md. 10 Dec 1835 John Blakely.

3. Aaron Murphree, b. about 1780 in Chatham Co., NC, md. Sarah ("Sally") Bullard (b. abt 1780 NC), and d. abt 1830 Blount Co., AL. Children: Jamima Murphree, md. Joseph Stephens; Marevl Murphree, md. 19 Nov 1825 Eady Easley; Polly Murphree md. 18 Jan 1827 Jesse Murphree; Cinda Ella ("Rilla") Murphree, md. 6 Nov 1825 Asa Bynum; Nancy Murphree, md. 6 May 1824 Isaac Bynum; Tapley Murphree, md. 28 Feb 1825 Mary ("Polly") Carnes; Elijah Murphree, md. 16 Dec 1831 Sally Easley; Thomas D. Murphree, md. 13 Oct 1842 Nancy D. Reed; Margaret ("Peggy") Murphree, md. 14 Sep 1837 Caleb Murphree; and Bayley Barton Murphree, md. 21 Sep 1843 Rebecca Bynum.
